VP Records as thrown additional support behind Gospel artiste Jason Mighty First Album “CornerStone” The record label is going to do both physical and digital distribution of the album. This will see the album being accessible through iTunes, rhapsody and amazon.com.

Cornerstone consists of 17 tracks, but what makes the album unique is the fact that it begins with Jamaica’s national anthem. Singles released off the album are “Cant Walk This Life Alone”, “One Soul”, “Wanna Know” and “Da Vinci Code” Gospel artiste featured on the album include Prodigal Son, DJ Nicholas, Goddy Goddy and Promise.

Jason Mighty album is well received in Barbados, so his first album launch will be in Barbados and his second will be in Jamaica on May 20, 2008 in Montego Bay.

T.O.K NAMED THE GREATEST REGGAE/DANCEHALL BAND.

tok.jpgPopularly known group T.O.K as been named the Greatest Reggae/Dancehall band by the New York Times Magazine. The group got its start through the annually held Tastee Talent Contest, it was while competing in that contest that the quartet of Xavier “Flexx”, Davidson, Craig “Craig T” Thompson, Alistaire “Alex” McCalla and Roshaun “Bay C” Clarke caught the eye of Nuff Records. Stephen Craig in 1996, they recorded a few tracks for Nuff Records, but it was the framed Sly and Robbie that released T.O.K first hit titled “Them High: on the Taxi label.

The group went on to Danny Browne’s label/studio, where they teamed up with Richard Sham Brown son of well-known guitarist Glenn Brown, Sham was in process of launching his own label. The first track T.O.K recorded for Browne was “Send them Come”, the it was the collaboration with the Lady Saw titled “Hardcore Lover” propelled them into the limelight and led to them being signed to VP Records. T.O.K first album with VP Records was entitled “My Crew My Dog”

SPICE SHOOTS MEDLEY VIDEO

Dancehall artiste Spice has shot a new medley video for her new singles “Giddy Up” and “Whoa”. The two-day video shoot for Giddy Up was done at two locations in Portmore, Caymanas Park Track and Ferdie Neita Park.

“Whoa” was also done at several locations in Portmore such as Breaton and Reflection Boutique in the Portmore Mall. The video was directed by Ras Tingle and will be premiering soon on National Television.

LET’S GET PHYSICAL AT NUMBER ONE ON BILLBOARD REGGAE CHARTS

Dancehall DJ Elephant Man released his latest album, on April 8, 2008 and it went straight to number one on the Billboard Reggae Top 10 charts. The star-studded project is the first release from a new venture, which joins Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Bad Boy Records with the largest independent Jamaican music label, VP Records.

The Energy God will perform in clubs across the U.S. with his “Let’s Get Physical Club Tour” starting in Tampa, Florida on May 10, 2008 and ending in Virginia Beach on June 8, 2008.

UPCOMING ARTISTE ACID

Oneil Waker also known as Acid is a new upcoming artiste trying to make it in the dancehall circle. Acid recorded his first single in the early 1990’s titled “English”, while attending Annotto Bay All-Age School. In 2007 Acid started gearing his career towards performing at more stage in order to gain exposure, he as taken the stage at “Follow Di Arrow”, “St Mary Mi Come From” and most recently the St. Mary Agriculture Show.

Acid is a member of Solid Sound based in Atlanta and Payday Music Production based nationally. He released three new singles for Payday Music Production entitled Run Di Place” “Wine For Me” and “What a Armageddon”.

STEPHEN MARLEY U.S. TOUR

Artiste/Producer Stephen Marley has begun a much-anticipated U.S. Spring tour that will take him to 29 cities. This include a handful of celebrated festivals including his Spring 08 finale performance on June 13, 2008 at the much heralded Bonnaroo Festival, and the four-day multi-stage music and culture extravaganza held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee.

Stephen Marley has won the Best Reggae Album Grammy and he holds the reggae record with six Grammy wins. Stephen will headline the non-festival shows, tapping Kingston Reggae sensation Gully Bank Sound to open on the tour. The trek kick off on May 14, 2008 in West Palm Beach at the Sun Fest, and includes shows in North Myrtle Beach on May 8, 2008; Las Vegas Hard Rock and Casino on May 23, 2008, and Boulder, CO on June 7, 2008 at the prestigious Fox Theatre.

E & M Recording artiste Nina Sparkles is looking to annihilate her competition this summer with a blitz of new singles. She has also been generating a big buzz overseas with “Like This, Like That” single featuring deejay Kip Rich.

During the last two months, Nina Sparkles has impressed the media and dancehall insiders with her spunk and daring onstage with a string of impressive stage show outings. Now that she’s back in Jamaica, Nina Sparkles is looking to up her game and establish herself as one of the leading female artistes in the business.

Over the past few weeks, her single, “Spite Him”, has been bombing FM radio into submission with its catchy sing-along hook and slamming beat.

She recently completed the video for that single, which will be released on Cable television and National Television Stations

Jamaican artistes Beenie Man, Tarrus Riley, Sean Kingston, Ky-Mani Marley, and Stephen Marley all copped two awards each at the 27th International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Apollo Theater in New York. The Jamaican artistes were beaten by Soca artiste Machel Montano who walked away with three awards.
