WESTERN CONSCIOUSNESS LAUNCHES 20TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW

Once again the national media corps and members of the Jamaican music fraternity were in attendance at the Talk Of- The- Town, atop the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, in New Kingston; to be feted and informed about this year’s staging of the annually held, Western Consciousness concert. This year the promoters, King Of Kings Promotions, headed by Worrell King, is celebrating the twentieth staging of the event. As is customary, the event will be staged at its home the LLandillo Cultural Centre in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland, on Saturday April 26.
This year’s launch was, as usual, packed to capacity as an eager gathering was kept informed about the history, as well as plans in place for this year’s
event. Denise “Isis” Miller, of Roots 96.1 f.m., was called on to officiate in place of the official master of ceremony, Cordel Green who arrived a little later.
One of the high points of the evening was the presentation of Appreciation Award Plaques to two unheralded giants in the national entertainment business who normally, would not be so honoured, they are, Eric “Soljie” Burke and Pearl “Ms. Pearl” Grenian. The were honoured for their long and dedicated service working in the national music/entertainment business.
Reggae Times must express its delight and further commend Worrell King, CEO of King Of Kings Promotions for making this bold move of recognizing the work and service that these two wonderful people has given to the Jamaican music Industry.
This year’s Western Consciousness event will feature the late Garnet Silk’s son Fabian Silk. This honour is very poignant, as this year’s event will fall on the birthday of the late Garnet Silk. Fabian is one of the few new talents
Who will gain exposure to the public for the first time via Western Consciousness.
This year’s Western Consciousness line-up is most impressive and will showcase the appearances of, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Anthony B, Bushman, Richie Spice, Mykal Roze, Tony Rebel, Edi Fitzroy, Queen Ifrika, Etana, Brigadier Jerry, Andrtew Tosh, Josey Wales, George Nooks, Chuck Fenda, Lutan Fyah, and Lymie Murray; just to briefly mention a few.
The S.A.N.E. Band will handle the duty of backing the acts.
