REGGAE BELIEVE IT OR NOT
For several years after “Sleng Ten”, King Jammy was the undisputed ruler for the dancehall. By the end of 1980s there was at least 150 albums in his catalogue, with countless other songs appearing on singles. Like Clement Dodd in 1960s, Jammy was catching the best of the new performers and recording them over the most progressive rhythms then being built; additionally. And like Dodd, he had the intelligence to surround themselves with every gifted associates. Musicians and arrangers like Jackie Mittoo, Roland Alphonso, Larry Marshall and Leroy Sibbles, as well as the engineer Sylvan Morris all contributed to the Brentford Road Studio.
