USAIN BOLT SET THE NATIONAL STADIUM ON FIRE

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt ran the second fastest 100-meter time ever, finishing the sprint in 9.76 seconds at the Jamaica International Invitational. Usain Bolt’s time at the National Stadium on Saturday, May 3, 2008 was 0.02 seconds off Asafa Powell’s world record of 9.74 seconds.

Usain Bolt, the World Championships silver medalist, finished within two hundredths of a second outside of Asafa Powell’s world record of 9.74. Usain Bolt’s performance now sees Jamaica with the world’s two fastest men, and the top five times in the history of the event – Asafa Powell (9.74, 9.77 three times) and Usain Bolt (9.76).
