The annually held “Irie Jamboree” is at an advance stage in its planning and is set to take place on Sunday August 31, 2008, at the Roy Wilkin Park, in New York City. Two of the major acts already announced as contacted to perform on the event are, Cocoa Tea and Tarrus Riley. Cocoa Tea has re-emerged quite powerfully and has seen a revival in his career, especially on the international scene this year, all due to the song he did endorsing U.S Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama titled “Barack Obama” the song as been getting major airplay around the world and was featured on CNN.
Tarrus Riley, recently walked away with two IRAWMA Awards for Singer of the Year and Excellence in Music. He also won over five awards at the inaugural staging of the annual Reggae Academy Music Awards. This will be Tarrus’ first appearance on a major outdoor park event. Tarrus recently signed a lucrative endorsement deal with Ocean Spray, making him the face of Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice in Jamaica.
