Dalton Browne, a veteran guitarist funeral service will be held today, scheduled to begin at 11:00 am at the Karl Henrickson Auditorium on the grounds of Jamaica College, Old Hope Road, Kingston. Browne died at the age of 64 due to a massive heart attack which he suffered on October 25 and later died on November 1; days after undergoing surgery at the University Hospital of the West Indies. He has been the musical director for Freddie McGregor’s band for quite some time. He played on most of McGregor’s hits such as: Big Ship, Push Come to Shove and Prophecy. Browne was the second of five Browne brothers who were once known as “The Browne Bunch” which was formed in the early 1970s. He was also a member of the 12 Tribes of Israel.
Cleveland Browne, his brother has mentioned to his publicist that “there will be no interment as it’s a cremation. His remains will be held until next year, as we’re planning to do the burial when, hopefully, the country opens up, because so many persons would want to come and can’t come”. However, his thanksgiving service will be streamed live on Youtube.com/mainstreetvideos.
Reggaetimes would like to express its condolences to the Browne family and may his soul Rest In Eternal Peace.
