D’Angel has been vigorously preparing for her very first appearance on the popular annually staged Reggae festival, Reggae Sumfest. “Sumfest”, dubbed, “The greatest Reggae show on Earth”, will definitely be an event on which D’Angel would want to deliver her absolute “best.”. This past weekend D’Angel gave sterling performances at both Club Amazon in Santa Cruz and the Portland Jerk Festival in Port Antonio. Both of which have gained excellent reviews in the national media.
On Sunday July 6, D’Angel performed to a crowd of over 25,000 at the 2008 staging of Portland Jerk Festival held at the Folly Estate, Port Antonio, Portland. D’Angel was among the top dancehall acts billed to perform. The audience warmly received her when she was introduced by the MC. They greeted her with a resounding roar of approval as she seamlessly moved from hit to hit while belting out the songs from her extensive repertoire. Her energetic and flawless performance obliterated all possibility for any negative reaction, as the audience participated and sang along to every song she performed.
Captain Baker, the promoters of the Festival stated: “D’Angel’s performance was excellent, we were very happy to have her as one of the main acts for this year’s event and look forward to having her for next year.”
D’Angel’s Don’t Hate capped the night with a request from the crowd for an encore performance.
