EAST vs. WEST AT YUSH

Dubbed the musical showdown of ‘East vs. West’, Yush took Margaritaville, Negril on a musically journey with Code Red and Coppershot representing the east and ZJ Liquid and DJ Wayne representing the west. Thousands crammed into the venue and parking lot enjoying the early vibes provided by the Deejays from the east, ZJ Rush and DJ Sanjay.

The showdown began in the wee hours of Saturday morning with the disc jocks from the west showing why the west is best. They unleashed solid selections from foundation artistes such as Barrington Levy (Broader Than Broadway) Dennis Brown (Here I Come), and Lady Saw which got the crowd moving.

The disc jocks from the east followed with ZJ Rush establishing his unique mixing style, which alternates the hits of old school hip-hop with the latest hits from the dancehall arena. This went down well with the now fully-engaged crowd which sang along to hits such as the hip- hop classic Gangster’s Paradise, which fused into Vybz Kartel’s Life Sweet, which garnered a big forward from the many patrons present. Homage was paid to the late Biggie Smalls and rapper Tupac by dedicating a segment with songs such as Warning and Broken Wings among many others which was again a hit with the very receptive crowd.

A number of women saw their fantasy come through when they rubbed shoulders with Beenie Man, who was chilling in the midst of the crowd dancing to his older songs, among others. By 4 a.m., patrons slowly started leaving the venue looking forward to Beer Vibes later that night.
