The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) is inviting additional entries as the selection process for the Festival Song 2009 continues. Entries are therefore being encouraged, that, while invoking a spirit of celebration, have international appeal, relevance beyond the Independence festivities and reflect the kind of diversity evident in the Jamaican music landscape.
Songwriters and Performers of the fifteen songs already selected, along with ten to be chosen from this last round of entries will participate in developmental workshops focusing on arrangement, composition , stage performance, image and marketing. The twenty singers will then compete in a grand showdown from which the top ten songs for 2009 will be determined. As an increased incentive, the writers of the top ten songs will receive an award of $100,000.
Entries open on April 28 and close on May 7. Entry forms are available online at www.jcdc.org.jm and may be sent to the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission- Head Office,
