On Saturday August 11, 2018 at the Summer Sizzle Festival held at the Jamalco Sport Club in Halse Hall, Clarendon Reggae entertainer Gyptian did not disappoint his anxious fans as he delivered a good performance. He took the stage with his breakthrough single “Serious Times” at 2:4 am. His set was well received as patrons made their appreciation heard right throughout. Also included in his set were songs from his catalogue such as What a Policy, Beautiful Lady and a number of covers from artiste including Bob Marley’s Wait in Vain, Number one by Gregory Isaac, True Colours by Cyndi Lauper, followed by his billboard track Hold Yuh which received a warm reception from the female patrons.
“I had a great time performing. It was a really good vibes and it was nice to give my support to Beenie Man and the people of Clarendon. It had been a long time since I had performed in Jamaica,” Gyptian disclosed in an interview.
As a result of Gyptian’s highly demanding international tour schedule, in the past eight years this marks only the third time he has performed in Jamaica.
“We will be going on a European tour next week where we will do shows in Sweden, Belgium and Netherlands,” he said.
Since leaving VP Records the singer is planning to release his first album on his Ryte Dyrekshan label.
“The album will drop at the end of this year a Ryte Dyrekshan project, mostly in house production with producers such as Ricky Blaze, Yardstyle, Nuffa Dat, Silver Bird, and UIM. Some of the singles are already released but some will be exclusive to the project,” Gyptian disclosed.
Gyptian has worked on singles such as Look Good, produced by Ricky Blaze, Picture which features collaboration with Samantha J on Silver Bird Production and Can’t Leave You Alone on his Ryte Dyrekshan label.
The king of the dancehall veteran Beenie Man, Summer Sizzle Festival marks forty years since the artiste has been in the music industry. Among the other entertainers present at festival include: Tommy Lee Sparta, Rygin King and Chris Martin just to name a few who came out to make Summer Sizzle a success.
