Albert ‘Apple Gabriel’ Craig, an original member of Israel Vibration passed away recently in the US.
The members first met at The Mona Rehabilitation Centre in St Andrew during the late 50’s, where they were being treated for polio as children. As members of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, the trio Albert ‘Apple Gabriel’ Craig, Cecil ‘Skelly’ Spence and Lascelle ‘Wiss’ Bulgin recorded their first song ‘Why Worry’ on the Orthodox Label in 76. ‘The Same Song’ their breakthrough Album Produced by Tommy Cowan and backed by Sly & Robbie, Augustus Pablo, Mikey Chung, and Ansel Collins in 1979.
They migrated to the US in the early 80’s and gradually developed a base on the US West Coast, Europe, and South America.
At the height of their success, Craig left the group , had a rather successful solo career, Another Moses, No Racism and Teach Them Right were his 3 solo albums. He’s made a very worthwhile contribution to the music industry Nuff Respect R.I.P
