JAMAICA FESTIVAL SONG COMPETITION 2k9- FINALISTS

jcdc5.jpgThe top ten finalists who will vie for the million dollar cash prize in the Jamaica Festival Song 2009 competition have been announced.

The finalists include:

Nathan with the entry “The Vibes” from Kingston & St. Andrew

Chris Christy with Jamrock Land of the King” – Westmoreland

Oba Simba with “Pressure”- Kingston & St. Andrew

CC Blake with “Love A Little Island Yah” – Westmoreland

Past Festival Song winner, Tinga Stewart with “Make the Best of Today”Kingston & St. Andrew

Past Jamaica Gospel Song winner, Lester Lewis joined by Singing Rose with   “Love You JamaicaManchester

Stacia with “Love JamaicaKingston & St. Andrew

Winston Hussey with “Take Back JamaicaSt. Catherine

 Calvin McFarlane with Jamaica Nuff Niceness”Kingston & St. Andrew

 and Pretty Rebel with “Persistent”Kingston & St. Andrew

 All ten participants will be featured on a series of public appearances before the finals scheduled for July. The public will play a major role in determining the 2009 Festival Song via text voting. Organizers of the competition the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) will be seeking to select a song for the 2009 Independence Celebrations that while invoking a spirit of celebration, has international appeal and relevance beyond the festive period.
