SHE’S GOING TO RISE TO THE TOP! Janisa, alarmingly pretty, quaint- even “stushy” as she’s been playfully nicknamed, standing at a petite 5ft3inches is rapidly drawing in Dancehall fans by the legions, with the magnetism and realness of her sometimes soprano, other times Caribbean tinged alto voice. Panamanian songwriter, signer, dancer and DJ, Janisa began her musical relationship with a prestigious post as Disk Jockey for WWKX RADIO (HOT.106.3) while simultaneously attending the University of Rhode Island as well as the prominent Connecticut School of Broadcasting. The baby-faced, Dancehall vixen riding a tide of popularity with her high-status radio gig, would later find herself landing successful stints in fashion shows, modeling gigs and TV network competitions ( BET, MTV) most notably selected as a video Jockey Finalist for FUSE TELEVISION.
Janisa’s ground-breaking single “Big Up” announced to the world last summer, was quickly ushered in by top commercial conglomerates such as Irie Fm Jamaica, Clear Channel Broadcasting & Radio Express Urban World Chart Show. Special World Radio Host DJ PJ Butta featured Janisa’s music in a Heineken Summer Special of the World Chart Show, consequently launching the ambitious singer’s career to Reggae fans throughout the West Indies. Thus, to date the vivacious Dancehall track “Big Up” boasts garnered spins on major Caribbean radio outlets including Bahamas More 94.9, USVI Isle 95, Barbados Mix FM & Jamaica Fame FM, Guyana 98.1, Trinidad & Tobago 96.1 WEFM, Aruba Cool FM and Haiti Radio 90.1 FM amongst several others.
Peaking at #14 on the Myspace Top Artist Reggae Chart for Massachusetts and recently featured in Jamaica Star Magazine, Chat Magazine and Big Eye News, Janisa remains humble about the career strides she’s accomplished rapidly as a Dancehall/Reggae newcomer. Ironically quiet in social settings, the intensely brown-eyed beauty exclaims, “I just want to make solid music. I want to be able to reach the ears of every Reggae fan in the world.” The buzz about the carnival-like feel Janisa demonstrates in one of her follow-up singles “Get You Up” has been nothing remotely close to “quiet” as trendy Dancehall entertainment sites and reputable sound systems across the globe continue to request jingles, dublates and interviews from the young budding star non-stop. With her song ratings through the roof, the Dynamic Dancehall Diva has racked up extensive media/e-zine features including 876radio.com, Outaroad.com, Reggaemusicfm.com, Tropicalfete.com, Westindianculture.com, Dubtunes.com, Reggaeevents.com and dozens more!
Holding down the #1 position on up-to-the-minute Panamanian Reggae site Maddradio.net for months, Janisa’s Hard-hitting lyricism in the sultry “Big Up” boasted over 8 Weeks at the top spot on Maddradio.net Singles Chart with thousands of downloads to date. The fierce Dancehall anthem continues to gain air-play at credible underground radio stations state-side such as Red Hot Radio NYC, STAR 99.3 FM NYC, Latina Explosion90.5FM NYC, Linkage Radio NYC, and countless others in Miami, Connecticut and the United Kingdom. In demand, Janisa returns with a perfect, new summer single produced by famed music veteran Paul”Jazzwad” Yebuah, who is the mastermind behind Bounty Killer’s breakout hit “Coppershot” and the Grammy Nominated “Beautiful” by Damion Marley. Continuing to play club venues in the east coast, Janisa is winning over party-goers with an infectious smile, firm and consistent stage presence. A club promoters dream, the Hispanic/Caribbean starlet is not afraid of the microphone. “Big Up” & ”Get You Up” continue to pull rank on the Songvault.FM Reggae Charts, peaking at the #3 & #4 positions, meanwhile upcoming starlet Janisa is apparently unfazed by her allure. Declares the Dancehall rookie about her very victorious musical introduction, “I was born for this.”
