Encompassed by the stress and uncertainty of the future due to the Covid -19 pandemic, a bright light shone through for some residents of Central Village in St Catherine recently, in the form of gospel singer and Minister Kevin (You Make Me Stronger) Downswell. Their worry was lessened when he dispersed aid to the residents in need , bags of food items, courtesy of Jamaica National Group, and Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) vouchers and he promised more to come not just for residents of Central Village in Spanish Town, St Catherine but all over the island. This was not the first time Kevin’s benevolence shone through, sometime last year he teamed up with Restaurants of Jamaica through KFC and erected a reading room and homework center for the students of his old school, Ferris Primary School in Westmoreland. Downswell, who has roots in Central Village, said he felt moved to help those in dire need. His mother Miriam has a church that is in the service of the people of Central Village ‘Glory Evangelistic Mission’, residents were thankful there was hope, he visited their homes and witnessed their relief for a helping hand. This Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s (JCDC) gospel song competition winner Kevin is described as a well-mannered and kind hearted Jamaican. Thank You Kevin we need more people like you.
