Many Jamaicans and foreigner looks forward to the month of February. The month of February is observed to be reggae month. One love and world peace is apart of reggae community belief. Reggae month received $1.5 million from their major sponsor, The Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) to fund the event on the 22nd of January.
Reggae month is highlighted to be more popular than the beaches, water falls or rivers in the island of Jamaica so far, but from an international standpoint it ranks top in attraction. This year event there will be managed by a steering committee from the ministry of tourism and culture, gender affairs, and entertainment and sports. Kamal Bankay, Lenford Salmon, and Howard McIntosh are the co- chairs of this event.
The Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) will still have responsibility for organising some of the signature events during Reggae Month, including the weekly concert series — Reggae Wednesdays, the Dennis Brown celebration, the Open University discussion series, the Bob Marley Birthday Celebrations, and the JaRIA Honour Awards
