Hot Shot which was released 20 years ago has finally made its way on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. His diamond-certified album has been his fifth studio album and was firstly released in the United States by DreamWorks Records in August 2000 and then later re-released in the United Kingdom in February 2001 with a revised track listing. Hot Shot has managed to be debuted at Number One on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart as well as the United Kingdom’s Official Albums Chart.
Shaggy undoubtedly took a hot shot with his album because according to the Recording Industry Association of America, it has been certified platinum six times in the United States. Additionally, over 10 million copies have been sold which resulted in it being the best-selling album in Canada in 2001 as well as the second highest charting studio album of that year on the Billboard Year-End charts. Not only that, the Billboard has revised its rules pertaining to the inclusion of streaming and two other albums from Shaggy have managed to be apart of the reggae table this year. His two other albums include: The Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection, which peaked at Number 2 and Hot Shot 2020 (Deluxe Edition), featuring a revamp of songs from the 2000 release as well as bonus tracks and has managed to secure the Number 4 spot in July.
