At the video shoot for ”Glory to God” which was at Hope United Church on Old Hope Road, Wayne Marshall stated that Bounty Killer was the one who approached him regarding the collaboration.
“Killer heard Glory to God and said it’s a powerful song and we need fi come together and give some praise,” Wayne Marshall disclosed in an interview. “Nuff people woulda say ‘Killer?’, but is a man weh God-fearing and love God and spiritual too. As early as I knew Killer he was singing songs giving praise, so mi know him spirit and mi know him household. His mother was a devout Christian and a very religious person and I’m sure if she was alive this would be one of her favourite Killer songs.”
This is not the first time the two friends has collaborated on a song, as they actually have worked on a number of tracks including Smoke Clears, Sufferer, Be on the Alert and Go Hard, however this is the first time they are working together on what could be largely considered a gospel track. It should be noted also that Marshall was a part of the Bounty Killer led Alliance crew in the early 2000’s, which can be considered the most succesful dancehall group of artistes of its kind also included hitmakers such as Mavado and Vybz Kartel.

Marshall also noted that he is allowing God to use him in whatever way possible including his music going forward.
“There are people who tell me to do more gospel music now based on the success and feel of Glory to God,” he said. “It’s not really pressure because I am good at giving praises to God. I know that God gave us the music as an expression of our emotions, so it’s always good when we can use the music to honor Him. I could do a hundred albums just giving thanks to God for the many blessings, so I don’t feel pressure about doing gospel music.”
After the passing of Wayne’s Father who succumbed to his illness in June, 2018; Marshall decided to cut his locks after the burial which he explained at the time as “personal changes and awakenings” was the cause of him to “switch things up”.
After a comeback from being out of the spotlight for a few years after the release of My Heart and the remix featuring Mavado, the singjay returned in May with his first ever spiritual release titled“Glory to God” which features his sister-in-law Tessanne Chin and pastor Ryan Mark. The video for the song was directed by Jay Will and is first one being released for Marshall in four years. Moving forward for the rest of the year, Mr. Marshall hopes to inspire others with his new life style.
“I want to motivate, uplift, heal and inspire people to improve and evolve,” he said. “I believe we are here in a kind of dualistic existence. We can’t just focus on the flesh and neglect the spirit or vice versa. It’s a balance, it’s up to us as humans to always evaluate our experience and place the focus on whichever areas are lacking. I want to help people figure things out as I try to figure things out myself.”
